哦,这样子啊,我还以为台湾没什么做EB的呢.EB的设计会比较复杂一点,需要比较多的经验才能够设计好EB的预热,灯丝温度控制和调光等等,普诚科技有出一些EB的controller chip.

oh, i have to say sorry now. I have little knowledge about the HCFL. have u ever disigned CCFL inverter? the HCFL lamp have some characteristics the same as CCFL, especially its negative resistance. so you must to control the current of the lamp, but not it's voltage. you must control the temp. of the filament in a certain range to maximum the lamp life time.
So, how about your lamp diameter, T5 or T8? The newest lamp is T5. and it will be the most popular lamp in the coming days. I think your lamps are this type. For T5/28W lamp, its lamp voltage is about 170V, lamp current is 170mA.

Hi Protose,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have no experience about E.B. or CCFL.
As we know about the lamp, the run voltage and current of Dulux D/E 13W are 77V and 165mA, Dulux D/E 18W are 80V and 210mA, D/E 18W are 80V and 210mA, 80V and 300mA.
But we still need more information about this kind of lamp.
The wrong strike voltage will damage the filaments of lamps.
We did try other competitor's product.
There are some dark marks in the lamp after turning on and off several times.
Hope you can give us more and more information.
Thanks & Best Regards

Eric:
Will ur EBs have dimming function?
If no, it could be easier.
the lamp should be preheated before be striked. The preheat operation heats the filament up to about 800 degree. Then the filament can emmit electrons. At this time, the lamp can be striked. The dark marks you find are caused by not enough preheated filament. and this will shorten the life time of HCFL.
almost all the EB controller chips provide preheat function, such as IR, ST, NXP, Fairchild...
When u design EB, DO remember the negative resistance characteristic of lamps, controll the lamp current, but its voltage.
There are several papers of FL characteristics on line. you may find them with google. All the FL have the same characteristics.

hi, Eric:
there are some papers about CCFL and HCFL.
hope they could be useful to u.
the difference between CCFL and HCFL are:
1. the CCFL electrode does not need to be heated, so it's glow discharge, but not arc discharge of HCFL.
2. the lamp current of CCFL is much less than HCFL, but its voltage is much higher than HCFL.
3. the electrodes of HCFL should be heated before striked. and in operation, there should be enough current to heat the filament of HCFL.

Hi Protose,
Thanks for your prompt help.
This project doesn't need dimming function.
I know that the lamp should be preheated before be striked.
So I need the Preheat frequency,Preheat Voltage and Preheat time of lamps.
I am plan to use 2 chips to design this project. one is L6574, the other is UBA2014.
I do not know about the lamp diameter. please link the web site(listed as below) to see it.
http://catalog.myosram.com/zb2b/b2b/start.do?browsername=mozilla%2F4.0%2520%2528compatible%253B%2520msie%25206.0%253B%2520windows%2520nt%25205.1%253B%2520sv1%253B%2520.net%2520clr%25202.0.50727%2529&browsermajor=4&browserminor=4
The run voltage and current of Dulux D/E 26W are 80V and 300mA.
This CFL Ballast must be design to connect a single D/E 26W or 2 D/E 26W or a single D/E 42W,.....
Thanks & Best Regards

Oh, ur lamps seem to be T8. I can't get to the super link you gave me.
the preheat time is usually from 0.4~2S.the preheat current is about 0.5A.
the preheat frequency and voltage are all related to the LC tank.
First, choose an LC with a proper Q, then determine the C. then choose a preheat voltage which is smaller than the lamp strike voltage. with preheat current, C and preheat voltage you can determine the preheat fequency.
you must make sure the lamp will not be striked during preheating.
if your EB does not need dimming function. you can choose UBA2024 or fairchild lighting chips.
